Sex & Relationships

We live in a culture that is highly sexualized, yet highly secretive about sex.

But when you check under the hood it looks like things are falling apart.

Here are some recent stats about sexuality that may surprise you.

Some studies show single people have sex more frequently than married people.

91% of men and 60% of women report using pornography in the last 30 days.

The average age of first intercourse is 16.8 for boys and 17.2 for girls.

15% of men have had sex with a prostitute.

But not only are we secretive about sex, we’re often very private about relationships in general. And often to our own detriment.

How many people do you know who went through a divorce that no one outside the marriage saw coming? Don’t you even know a few people who didn’t see their OWN divorce coming? Of the marriages that don’t end in divorce what percentage are actually happy and thriving? Why can’t we just talk about how our relationships are actually going?

Is there any way for a marriage to be satisfying and life-giving? Most people don’t think so.

Romantic movies, books, and content are constantly consumed. Yet in 1992 the percentage of Americans who believed married people are happier than unmarried people dropped below 50%. When that particular survey ended in 2012, the number had dropped below 40%. Most people don’t think marriage actually makes you happier… and yet we’re often still obsessed with finding a long term relationship.

What is going on?

Are we better off alone?

Can we tame our sexual addictions and pornography use? Or will that only rise in the coming years?

Can someone be happy being a single person? What about a single Christian?

This is what we’ll be diving into in our next series, “Sex and Relationships.”

The goal is to help you find and embrace God’s will for sexuality and romance in your life.

Can’t wait to see you there!
