Baptism
WHAT IS BAPTISM?
The biblical foundation for Baptism:
Jesus’ final recorded words to His followers before His ascension to heaven express the importance He placed on Baptism.
- Matthew 28:19
Baptism does not provide salvation for an individual, but rather serves to identify publicly the individual as a follower of Christ.
- Acts 2:41, 8:12, 10:47-48, Romans 6:1-11
Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ that happens after an individual’s acceptance of salvation by God’s grace alone. Baby baptism is a beautiful act for parents but happens before a person can place their faith in Christ. Those who have been baptized as a baby are encouraged to be baptized again after they've made a decision to follow Christ.
